Chime Free Game Download 2023
Chime:
"Chime, a music and puzzle video game developed by Zoë Mode, made its debut on the Xbox Live Arcade platform in 2010 and was later released for Windows. An expanded edition of the game, known as Chime Super Deluxe, became available on the PlayStation Network in March 2011. Chime marked the inaugural release from the non-profit video game publisher OneBigGame.
In Chime, players engage in a block-dropping puzzle experience. They control a single shape at a time, with the ability to move, rotate, and place it onto a grid. A beatline synchronizes with the music as it moves across the grid, triggering events when it encounters placed shapes. Players can form quads by arranging shapes into solid blocks of 3x3 or larger. Upon completing a quad and aligning it with the beatline, distinct musical samples corresponding to the quad's shape are activated. The size of the quad determines the player's score, and they can achieve multipliers by having multiple quads on the grid simultaneously. When the beatline interacts with a completed quad, it is solidified into the grid, adding to the player's coverage. It's important to note that when the stage's time expires, all active quads—those not yet fully formed—are promptly scored, contributing to the player's coverage, which can lead to coverage bonus time and continued gameplay.
The ultimate goal is to attain 100% grid coverage to earn additional time and score points. The game progresses as long as time remains, allowing for the possibility of achieving complete grid coverage multiple times.
Gameplay:
Chime offers two fundamental modes: Timed Mode and Free Mode. Timed Mode introduces a time-based challenge with three different difficulty levels, offering time limits of 9, 6, or 3 minutes (actual play time extends based on time bonuses earned through 10% coverage increments). In Free Mode, players can explore a more leisurely, non-time-constrained experience. They can arrange shapes at their own pace, creating different sounds and modifying the music to their liking.
Chime incorporates a diverse range of musical styles and contributions from various artists. The original release of the game included five songs, all generously provided by the respective artists on a pro bono basis. These tracks featured "Brazil" by Philip Glass, "Ooh Yeah" by Moby, "For Silence" by Paul Hartnoll of Orbital (a band coincidentally known for a hit song titled Chime), "Spilled Cranberries" by Markus Schulz, and "Disco Ghosts" by Fred Deakin of Lemon Jelly. Additionally, the Windows version of Chime introduced a new level based on "Still Alive" from the popular 2007 video game Portal, a song composed by Jonathan Coulton and performed by Ellen McLain in character as GLaDOS. The game's music was adapted to suit the gameplay by Marc Canham.
The Xbox 360 version and Chime Super Deluxe garnered "generally favorable reviews," while the PC version received above-average ratings, as reported on the review aggregation website Metacritic. IGN praised the Xbox 360 version, describing Chime as affordable, entertaining for extended periods, and contributing to a charitable cause with its $5 price tag. However, Edge's assessment of the Super Deluxe edition was less enthusiastic, awarding it a score of six out of ten and noting a perceived disconnect between the game's theme and gameplay."
