Glider Simulator:
Glider is a classic Macintosh video game developed by John Calhoun and initially released as shareware in 1988 under the banner of Soft Dorothy Software. The game's objective revolves around piloting a paper airplane through various rooms within a house. The airplane's movements are influenced by air currents generated by heat ducts and fans, making navigation challenging. Additionally, the rooms are filled with numerous household objects, many of which pose deadly obstacles. Some rooms introduce unique mechanics, such as slippery grease-covered surfaces. The game presents each room in a two-dimensional side view.
In 1991, an enhanced version called Glider 4.0, featuring color graphics and a level editor, was published by Casady & Greene. This version was also adapted for Microsoft Windows in the mid-'90s. Further enhancing the game, Glider PRO was introduced in 1994 by Casady & Greene for Macintosh. However, when the publisher faced bankruptcy in 2003, the rights to the series reverted to the game's creator. For a period, he distributed the game for free via his website. John Calhoun authored several other Macintosh games like Glypha, Pararena, and Stella Obscura, but Glider remained his most renowned creation.
